CLPS is excited to announce a new district program that will impact all of our kindergarten through 5th grade students. Each month, our school district will be sending home a book with each of our elementary students to keep at home and read with their family members.
The "Read At Home" program, or RAH for short, was created to extend reading opportunities outside of school. We want each of our students to have their own personal library at home. Each book that is sent home will have support materials for families to use with their children as they read the book together. The activities we are asking parents to do with their children are easy and add to the experience of reading a book.
RAH books were selected to be read multiple times. A bookmark with a QR code was included with each book. Please take a minute to use the camera on your phone to the open the QR code which will take you to a video. The video is relatively short in length and explains some simple activities adults can do to make reading a book with a child more exciting and engaging. Also included with the book is a RAH "Read My Book" slip. Once your child has read their RAH book, fill out the slip, send it back to your child's teacher, and we will recognize them for putting in the "extra" effort to improve their reading skill.
On behalf of our School Board, our teachers, and staff, we hope every student has the opportunity to enjoy their new book with a family member. Please take a few minutes each day to sit down, relax and read with your child.
