RE: PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT REQUESTS
To ensure that staff members are able to attend quality professional development, please note the following procedure for requesting to attend professional development workshops and conferences.
- The Professional Development Conference Request Form must be completed by ALL staff members and submitted to the building supervisor or principal for approval. (Conferences must align with the District Improvement Goals and travel/hotel costs are not covered by district funds)
- After building level approval, the request must be forwarded to Jan Fix at the Administration Building for approval by the Curriculum Department at least two weeks prior to the date of the conference. For special services staff, after building level approval, the request must be forwarded to the Director for Special Services, who will send it to the curriculum department.
- Upon approval, Jan Fix will register, handle payment for the applicant for the workshop or conference, secure a sub through AESOP for the date, and send the applicant a confirmation and Reflection Form.
- The Professional Development Reflection needs to be completed within one week of the workshop or conference and sent to Jan Fix at the administration building. Special Services staff must also send a copy of the reflection form to Kathy Kohler in the Special Education Department.
The district will not provide reimbursement for the conference or other incidental costs which may occur if applicants register on their own without following the requested procedure.
