What if high school students were exposed to a multitude of careers and opportunities, industry skills and potential employers through classroom speakers, site visits, job shadowing and internships? What if students saw the purpose of their courses and felt more prepared for life after high school? The Academies of Center Line offer students all of this and more:
Through strategic partnerships, Center Line Public Schools has reinvented the way our high school students learn. Beginning in the Ninth Grade Academy, a small group of teachers "wrap around" our freshman to ensure preparedness for the rest of their high school career. Career Cruising information, along with information directly from business owners/operators, helps students make a decision to either become a part of The Academy of Industry, Technology, and Innovation, or The Academy of Health and Human Services. Direct involvement from business partners and community colleges allow students to fully explore careers and narrow their focus for post-secondary life. Employment opportunities for students grow exponentially and our community input becomes a critical piece of how we operate.
