Center Line Public Schools serves approximately 2600 students on the south end of Macomb County. Our school system has a rich heritage dating back to 1875. Two-thirds of our population lives in Warren. The district maintains seven facilities and has 330 employees.
Center Line Public Schools is on the cutting edge of educational innovation and student workforce preparedness, opening our high school career academies in fall of 2016. The district’s Strategic Planning Goal states that all students who graduate from Center Line High School will exit with an industry-recognized certification and/or college credit.
Students begin their journey in the Freshman Academy and explore their strengths and interests through career cruising, surveys and inventories such as Xello, and field experiences. As sophomores, students choose which academy best suits them—the Industry, Technology & Innovation (ITI) Academy or the Health & Human Services (HHS) Academy. ITI Pathways include Engineering Technology; Innovative Art & Design; Business, Commerce & Entrepreneurship; and Digital Design & Communication. HHS pathways include Health & Wellness, First Responders, Law & Justice, and Public Service. Through the development of small learning communities centered around these two academies, our students are exposed to a multitude of careers, industry skills, and potential employers through classroom speakers, site visits, job shadowing, and internships. We also offer AP courses/dual enrollment/Early College and participate in the Southwest Macomb Technical Education Consortium that allows students choose from a host of CTE courses. Wolfe Middle School provides academic experiences and extracurricular opportunities to ensure the development of self-motivated learners, focusing on career exploration and alignment with our high school career academies, and students have access to the county’s only junior high Makerspace and courses such as Innovative Presentations, Building and Design, and multiple robotics courses (Intro, Advanced, and Underwater Robotics). Students are organized into grade level communities that hold monthly family meetings conducive to creating a safe and structured environment for our students. Both secondary schools have active and successful sports teams that are not pay-to-play.
Robotics, STEAM, and technology courses are offered at the elementary levels as well, and we have a gifted program for grades 4 & 5 along with developmental kindergarten. Our Early Childhood Center has many half- and full-day options for preschool, including Early Childhood Special Education, and Great Start Readiness Program options. We offer free breakfast and lunch to all of our students, and before and after school care is available for students up through 5th grade.
Additional innovative programming includes Academy 21, an accredited virtual learning environment that combines the benefits of online learning with in-person instruction from highly qualified teachers for grades K-12. Coursework is delivered online, and student pacing is flexible so that students have the ability to complete courses at a suggested or accelerated pace.
